Well there is no OS which will meet everyone’s requirements. Everyone have their own preferences.
So, here i’ll try to list 5 most popular and most liked hacker’s OS.
1. Kali Linux
Kali Linux is one of the most popular Linux distro used for hacking and penetration testing. It is developed by Offensive Security. Kali Linux is based on Debian. It has over 600 preinstalled penetration-testing tools including Nmap, Wireshark, Burp suit, John the ripper, Metasploit framework etc.
It’s supported not just on PCs with x86 wireframes, and ARM models, but additionally on cell phones including the Nexus series, One Plus One and some others!
2. Parrot Security OS
Parrot Security OS is based on Debian. It is developed by Parrot Project Team.
It is very lightweight. So, it can be installed on older devices.
It has a lot of tools for pentesting, crytography and privacy like AnonSurf, Tor, Wifiphisher, Metasploit framework, Wireshark etc.
BlackArch is based on Arch Linux. It has its own repository containing over 2154 tools.
It does not provide a desktop environment. So, user have to manually install a desktop environment.
BackBox is a Ubuntu based linux distro built for security and pen-testing professionals.
It comes with its own repository containing over 70 tools. It provides only the most used and important tools for Ethical hacking and testing.
Pentoo is a Gentoo Linux based OS. It is a penetration testing and hacking distro.
Pentoo is a Live CD and Live USB distro with Persistence Support (meaning any changes made in the live environment will be available on the next boot if you use a USB stick).
Pentoo uses the XFCE desktop environment.
